Current and Future Projects

Dog Park Shelter - As a result of Dog Jog 2005 and the matching grant from Modern Woodmen of America, an octagonal shelter will be place in the north central part of the park. Jean Ashmore of Modern Woodmen of America also donated several Colorado spruce trees for this area. In future years they will serve as a windbreak for the shelter.

Information Kiosk - During our Grand Opening ceremony (May 14, 2005), the PETCO Foundation awarded us a grant for a park bench and an information kiosk. This has been installed this year near the entrance gate. Contact Judy Thompson if you have something you would like to include in the Information Kiosk.

Small Dog Area - Our next fundraising effort will concentrate on a small dog area with a gate near the front entrance. The cost of the gate, posts, fencing and site preparation is approximately $4,000. In June of 2005, SOLA received $500 from Cargill to start this project. We need to raise the remaining $3,500. Now that this has been completed, the small dog area could be rented out for dog birthday parties, breed parties, and training classes. Contact Judy Thompson if interested in renting the small dog area.

Water Source - This will be a major, but much needed project. There is a water connection where the old concession building used to stand. We could connect to that and go under the parking lot, road, and into the dog park. This would include a drinking fountain for people and pups and perhaps a water spray for hot dogs. We do not have a cost estimate on this yet.

Benches - You can order a bench to be dedicated to someone (including yourself). The price of a dedicated bench is $1,000 which includes the bench, cement pad, installation, and dedication plaque. You may also just donate some money which will be pooled with other donations and put towards a bench.

Trees - These will be used to shade benches and provide shade in other locations.

Memory Bricks - If you would like to buy a brick with the name of a pet no longer with you or a current pet, bricks can be purchased for $50.

If you are interested in donating to one of the projects listed, please mail a check to:
